THE WINE CELLAR

Marchesi Alfieri is an historic winery located in the San Martino Alfieri castle in the hills between Asti and Alba. The castle and the estate have always been linked to the history of the family. In the medieval period the castle belonged to the the noble Solaro family who were guelfs, merchants and bankers. In 1616 the noble Alfieri family took residence and farmed the land and the vines. From 1983 the three sisters, Emanuela, Antonella e Giovanna San Martino di San Germano led the business and from 1999 Mario Olivero became the enologist and director. From 21 hectares of their own vines 100,000 bottles are produced each year.
