Cantine

The Savigliano Mario winery is situated in the Comune of Diano d’Alba. In the same way that many other farms started, it was a farm that cultivated grapes and sold them in local markets. Then gradually changing to the sale of bulk wine which was transported to large markets in Alba using large wooden ‘botti’ (barrels) pulled by bullock wagons. After the arrival in Diano of the first small motorised trucks Mario started to expand the horizons of the market. In the middle of the 1960s Mario and his wife, Maria, started bottling a small portion of the production. In the 1980s their son, Marco, increased the bottling to all the wine production. Mario and Marco take care of all the work in the vineyard, the winemaking and control the quality, but always respecting traditions. They produce and age the great wines of Piedmont using traditional methods. The grapes are obtained from their own vines, and from those of other associated growers who are carefully chosen.
